Phase 2 on track….
So I’m getting close to finishing phase two of the OpenWRT project. I got the original WRT54G apart on Sunday (over a two weeks ago now) and scoped out the serial port, mainly making sure it was there. I talked Isaac into stopping at Fry’s after swimming the weekend before last, so I picked up the parts to wire up the serial ports. (Header connector, some ribbon cable and misc stuff) I ordered the line level converters last week and they came on Saturday, so I can plug regular RS232 devices into the serial ports. I’ll make some holes in the cases for the serial ports after wiring them up and making sure they work.
Now that the birthday weekend is over and things are settling back down, I got back to radio stuff. I just finished wiring up the replace Yaesu rotator and testing it, so the next nice day that I can skip out of work and Scott/Art are available, I’ll get it installed. Hopefully before next spring. :-)
I just cleared the work bench off and am about to start hacking the serial ports into place. I haven’t worked with the ribbon cables connectors in a long time, so this should be fun.
