London, day five….
February 18th, 2017 kennyrSo I just realized my day four post didn’t cover the entire day. I published the write up before taking a TKD class at the gym attached to the apartment where we are staying. The class didn’t start until 8:15PM, which was a little late. In my opinion it was less a TKD class and more a conditioning class. So after walking all over the city, I took a 1.5 hr conditioning class, with a little bit of kicking. The class was taught on a hardwood floor, which also took a little getting use to. The real problem was that I wasn’t able to get to sleep until after 1AM after taking the class, which made yesterday a slow day.
So Rosie had agreed to go have lunch with the people in her UK office from work. This meant a hour train ride outside of the city, so she took off in the morning and Isaac and I took off for Baker Street. We first had lunch at this gourmet burger place and then did the tour at the Sherlock Holmes museum. (At 221B Baker St!)
I guess for a long time 221 Baker St. wasn’t a real address, but the city finally ‘issued’ the address when the museum was opened. The building use to be upstairs flats during the time period Holmes lived in London and they had redone it based on the books and different movies. The sitting room was my favorite.
There were even some scary characters hanging around.
After seeing the original 221B, I looked up where they film 221B in the new BBC Sherlock show. It was only one tube stop away, so we hoped on the Underground and found the Speedy’s Sandwich shop.
At this point, Isaac and I were ready for a break, so we headed back to the flat. Oddly enough getting back was a multi-line hop on the Underground. We are getting better at this, but it is still an advanture to make sure we are jumping to the right line and the right direction.
After taking a nap and Rosie getting back, we found a Tapis place that was close and went for my b-day dinner. The food was good, but we over did it on garlic. I just can’t handle to much garlic anymore, which sucks, but so does getting old.
