I caved…
June 29th, 2008I ran to Fry’s tonight and bought one of the last portable AC units – our bedroom is finally at a point where we have a chance of sleeping tonight.

Really hot….
I’m using this morning to catch up on stuff, before blazing out to Field Day setup. Isaac and I slept in this morning, we didn’t get up until about 7:10AM, which is about an hour later the normal. What a great way to wake up.
I’ve been catching up on the bookkeeping and bill paying, cleaning up my desk and cut the last couple fence panels off. I’m calling the fence done for now, mainly because I’m tired of it.
What I can’t believe is how big the pile of fence “waste” got. The stupid thing is huge and I’m not entirely sure how I’ll get rid of it. I hate the idea of renting a trailer to haul it to the dump, but I may have to-do that.
I’ve got to wrap things up here. I have a chiro appointment downtown at 11:30AM and then I’m going to lunch with some friends before doubling back to the Field Day site in Redmond.
Field day weekend starts now!
I know I’m getting a little weird on the fence, but it is so close now. I added the brace needed at the corner, put up the last four boards and now I only need to cut off the tops of the fence posts. Yea!
Big fence day. I am 98% done with putting the fence panals up. I’d be done except I ran out of screws for the last couple. Tomorrow if I’m lucky I’ll get the final boards up and go through the process of trimming all of them so they are level. (Even bought a new blade for the skill saw) Pictures to follow….
I am trying to create a Win98SE installation under Parallels to test something at work. Parallels has a standard setting for W98SE, but I couldn’t get the damn thing to boot from the CD. It finally occurred to me that the W98SE CD isn’t bootable. We didn’t have that technology in 1998…
How did we ever get along without bootable CD’s?
As Kelly said, its been a while without a post. Sort of a weird week for me actually. I spent all day Tuesday and Wednesday in a class. And when I say all day, I mean all day. Class started at 9AM, but in this different building then I work, lunches were 20 minutes and very few breaks. So I pretty much didn’t get anything else done during the class time. I also had a radio club meeting on Tuesday night and Isaac’s regular swim lesson on Wednesday. Last night I got to fix the faring on the front of Rosie’s car. (including coming up with some replacement pieces for those that had disappeared)
I’m just hoping to get some time tonight to work on my fence. I so want that damn thing done now. I’m tried of looking at, I’m tired of hanging over my head. Next week is the big radio weekend of the year, known as Field Day to hams. Basically 48 hours of radio fun.
I snagged a co-works Kindle today, I’m going take it for the weekend and see if I like it enough to buy one. The idea of having multiple books in a small package is very interesting to me. Especially now that most of my reading time is on the bus.
Just missed my bus – my leaving early plan is set back
Had a great Father’s Day weekend. Managed to get nearly all the things on my to-do list done, at least the items I hoped to get done. The weather was really nice on Sunday and of course Isaac was a little sick and ended up taking nearly a four hour nap in the afternoon. (wrapped around me) I still got my new BBQ and cooked a nice steak on it for dinner Sunday, Rosie has salmon and Isaac had chicken finger things. We all enjoyed the veggies and rice.
I finally got started on the last phase of the fence. I had to patch up one area where my demo took out part of a neighbors side fence. I got that all fixed and then got up maybe a dozen of the cedar boards. Those will go quick, the biggest issue is packing them into the back yard.
