So we got back from Oregon last night.(Sunday) We weren’t suppose to leave until Monday, but Isaac woke up Sunday asking to go home and NOAA was calling for another wind storm, so headed home. The whole trip home there was a amazing lack of snow on the ground. When we hit Seattle, we did start to see snow and when we got to our exit we saw even more. Of course when we hit our street, I had to drop into 4×4 to get into our driveway. Even late Monday afternoon the Fed-X guy parked at the end of the street and walked the packages up.
Hopefully this stuff will finally disappear today….

So Christmas is over – first time we had it in our house. Sort of nice actually not having crazy amounts of family around. Just the three of us and plenty of snow. Today we are suppose to head south and it looks like the weather is going to allow it.
We still have a ton of snow on our block and for several blocks down the hill, but once you get to a main road it is totally clear. Rosie tried to hike out to catch a bus this morning, but ended up coming back and waking us up to drive her. Limited bus runs still, since they need the chains for many of the side road. Here a shot of the snow on our deck yesterday, before I started digging it out to cook dinner on the BBQ.

As of now the tree is in the backyard, our bags are packed and I was about to go get Isaac some lunch. I just hope this stupid cough will finally go away or it is going to be a long drive.

So yesterday we made a run into Bellevue, not because we needed anything, but mainly because we were bored of being stuck in the house. During the course of this trip, I had Pathfinder completely cleaned off of snow. There was a good 6 inches on it before leaving the house and it was all pretty much gone when we got home. This morning I wake up and it is like I didn’t do anything yesterday. This is just nuts, how do people like Eric deal with stuff all winter? (I know, they use their garages for parking cars :-)
Anyhow, we are tired of being at home and are taking off for work RSN….

Yes, I’m getting tired of snow. And the cold. And the ice.
It started snowing again this afternoon, put at least another inch on the ground, maybe more. Sigh…

Seattle is getting hit pretty hard right now weather wise. We have been pretty frozen since last Sunday, I’ve still got 5 inches of snow in my front lawn and the roads are still pretty messy. I managed to get to the gym this morning to swim and hit Safeway on the way home. Totally crazy with shoppers loading up on food.
I’m not sure if it is the big rush for the Christmas dinner or everybody is worried about loosing power again. We are suppose to have high winds tonight, which combined with below freezing temps and snow covered trees equals snapped power lines. I re-stocked our supply of soup, which Rosie’s mom killed when she stayed with us a couple weeks ago. I also filled up all the gas cans, so we have plenty of fuel for the generator.
Combine our gas water heater and fire places, with lots of camping stuff and add the generator, we are not really to bad off when the power goes out. I’m kicking myself now for not getting the furnace wired to run off a generator as well. That would have even solved the problem heating the whole house.
