I had an interesting day in messed-up-knee-land
I had my first physical therapy session, which I'm now going to refer to as an hour of pain session. I totally the why and I understand that I need to make my knee/leg do things it really doesn't want to-do right now, but OUCH. As an example, I started out not being able to straighten my leg all the way. Something like 18 degrees from flat. The solution for such problems is to push on my knee until I almost ready to start swinging and repeat. I have to say it did seem to work, because when I left it was just barely not flat.
I also found out that it upsets my family when I do the home exercises, it seems me screaming OUCH over and over again is upsetting. Since I was doing them with my headphones on, that particular issue wasn't really bothering me.
The really interesting thing I found out today was that I didn't actually tear my MCL. Which is good I guess, but I did tear my meniscus, so it seems like a toss up to me. I'm not sure how I got them mixed up, the doctor and I talked about all three of them and I must have just got confused. In searching the tubes, it seems that getting your ACL and meniscus fixed at the same time is actually better then doing just one of them. Something about how making the holes necessary for the ACL repair open up blood flow or something like that. (have to ask the doctor to explain that)
