Apple TV is sad, part 2…..
So I learned a couple things yesterday. I don’t have the greatest tools for dealing with hard disk problems on the Mac and finding IDE 2.5 inch laptop drives is difficult. I discovered another old drive sitting in my pile of hard drives yesterday and tried to use it. After fussing with it a while and asking Rosie (since it had stuff on it with login) I remembered it was the drive that died in her Powerbook. So that drive now has a big red DEAD DRIVE tag on it.
The trip to Fry’s was not very useful last night in search of a new hard drive. They pretty much had only SATA drives in the laptop size. Lots of really good deals can be had now on 320G 2.5 SATA hard drives. (Thinking about upgrading the drive in my Macbook actually. So I went on Amazon last night and found some of the last remaining IDE drives and had them over night it. It still won’t be here until Tuesday, since it was to late Saturday to go out. Sigh…..
I’ve decided to wait and not put the original drive back in. I’d rather keep it as the back up, backup drive. I hope the family can deal without having Apple TV for a couple more days. I know that I was already annoyed last night when I couldn’t watch the episode of House I’d been saving.
