I just got done with my second PT session since my surgery. I’m now officially into my second week of recovery. It has http://t.co/wqrSkHqd
I'm now officially into my second week of recovery. It has been a long week, I spent the first 4 days in a fog from the happy pills. I stopped taking them during the day on Sunday, just using Advil instead. I was still taking one pill at night before bed, but stopped that two days ago. So far the pain is pretty manageable, this morning I almost left for the PT without taking anything.
I started my exercises on Monday, I initially only did them once a day. After the Tuesday PT session, I started doing them twice a day. (I'm at home with nothing else to-do) I think they have helped, I hit my goal of 100degrees of flexion (how close my heel gets to my butt). I was measured at 105degrees this morning with help (meaning the physical therapist was pushing) and 95degrees when doing it myself. This weekend I'm focusing on weight bearing. (Yea – new torture exercise!)
I gave up the crutches yesterday, I was getting close to for the last couple days and a friend gave me the push by donating a cane to the cause. Moving around on crutches is a special kind of torture. I'd like to ultimately be cane free by next week, when I think I'll be going back to work. The biggest trick for going crutch free was getting up and down the stairs at home, but even that isn't as big of deal now.
I have my first doctor follow up this afternoon, I'm hoping the stitches will be removed. I'm getting tired of the hassle when showering. I've already had to redress a couple of the holes, because the water proof band-aids weren't so water proof.
Have you noticed a trend, my big motivation so far comes when I get annoyed at having to-do something. I'm sure that isn't going to be a long term solution, but I have others as time goes on. I'll probably send the CPM machine back next week, I've noticed that I'm not using it so much now. This is what one looks like (http://goo.gl/a7NyT) and yes, they are very scary looking. But it is amazing how much it helped, I was spending ~6 hours a day in it after the surgery and it felt so good that I was following asleep most of the time.

I pulled the dressing off my leg this afternoon. I discovered four holes, rather then the three the doctor described be http://t.co/EyCyf2tc
I discovered four holes, rather then the three the doctor described before the surgery. It seems he had trouble attaching some of the screws for the ACL repair, so he needed better access. (Rosie knew this, but I was still out of it when the surgeon stopped by and told us)
And yes, the "TC" is where my surgeon wrote his initials. Before my surgery all the docs stopped by, asked which knee they were suppose to work on and then signed their initials. I sort of wish I'd realized it, I could have pre-drawn a "operate here" sign or something for them.
