I know this is going to sound very weird, but I'm actually looking forward to it raining this weekend. We have had such a wonderful indian summer this year, that I've felt it necessary to spend very possible moment getting stuff done outside. (For those fellow NW people, attached is the definition of an 'indian summer'. I know, this might be a new experience for you. :-)
In short I have been held hostage by the yard work, deck work and antenna work for the last two months. I know that I'll never actually completely finish any of these things, but there is some deep need to try when the end of August shows up here in Seattle. Typically we are looking at nine straight months of rain, but this year threw us a curve ball.
This weekend I'm looking forward to catching my breath, getting some 'inside' projects done and finally finishing the RaspberryPi APRS Digi project that started so many months ago.

So after the very cool ham radio mesh workshop yesterday, I came home to a very sick Mac. My MBP was acting weird all day and when I got home, it actually failed to boot. Lots of recovery effort, but eventually I just flatten it and restored.
The new hidden boot partition made the whole process fairly simple. Was able to reformat, reinstall the OS and restore via my Time Machine instance in about three hours. So far the only 'problem' is my iTunes install, I didn't backup that folder (since it is so large and there is a copy on my iPhone). But now I have to 'restore' from my iPhone and that is kind of tricky.
I'm still happy I got a Bullet and 54G talking MESH. I'll start working on the CAT6 cable to mount the Bullet on the top of the tower.

It even rained this morning at the house.
Sigh.

My wife took these for me, might almost be worth the hike up there to get a closer look. :-)

Antenna is now 20 feet higher and I replaced the run of LM400 with 1/2 inch hardline. Now I can get back to playing with the Raspberry Pi, actually got it talking to the TNC yesterday afternoon and APRx is now compiled locally.
