Stuff I Forgot….

I need a Windows laptop for Field Day weekend, so I’m bring my old Compaq PIII out of retirement. I was going to put XP on it, but after doing a little research I’m going to try Windows 7 RC1. It might actually be better….
I have been using a MacBook at work now for nearly a month and overall happy. I’m still fighting Entrouage, it just is missing stuff I’m use to, but everything else is good. The last big problem I fixed today, I got Synergy working. Using Synergy on the mac isn’t a big deal, but I wanted the mac to be the server. Well I figured it out today and the solution didn’t require cracking the firewall. yea!
My garden is really taking off, I’m sure because of all this warm weather. I gave up getting it totally finished and just moved the plants into it several weeks ago. But yesterday I nearly finished the “stone wall”, which when finished I means I can start moving in the river rock. Meaning I can stop looking at landscaping fabric and have something pretty. (I’ll post some pictures this weekend)

Quick Update

June 3rd, 2009

I’ve been pretty busy lately, not much time to sit down and update things here. It is the kind of busy where your going all the time, but it doesn’t seem like much is getting done.

Work is in just a weird place right now, I’m just not sure how I feel about it. The new boss hasn’t seemed to help my situation of getting stuff done, if anything it still seems like I’m carrying a lot of the manager duties. People I like and who are good are dropping like flies. One of the few TPM’s (what I do) in our group left today, he isn’t going any place, he is just leaving. (I’ve got a good idea why, but wasn’t able to confirm it) One of the best devs I’ve worked with is leaving in another week. That puts our team down to three, but a new guy is starting next week. (Which I don’t actually count for getting anything done until he has been here several months) The crowning piece of crazyness is our VP bailed and pretty much disappeared. He has some personal family stuff that came up, so it kind of short circuited his transition.

Through all of this we are getting some house work done. Stuff I just won’t take on myself, so I’m farming it out. First up is getting the house painted. We know someone that does it in the evenings, after his day job kind of thing. He does really good work, but it drags out the project. Of course he starts the week it decides to turn into 90degree heat wave here in Seattle. I’m not looking forward to trying to sleep in a taped up house for two nights.

I’m also trying to get everything in place for our camping / Field Day weekend. We did the big REI shopping trip last weekend and the week before I bought the utility trailer to make getting everything up there easier. (I need a generator to run the radios and didn’t want to haul it in the truck.) Now I need to sit down and make some lists, having this be a camping trip + radio contesting weekend makes things a little more complicated. Hopefully Isaac will enjoy this one a little better then the last time we went.
