made it to work – time to generate the TPS report….
So it has been pretty damn warm this weekend, which has been good for the garden I guess. I now have fruit on about half the tomatoe plants and Isaac’s sunflower looks like it is about to actually produce a flower. I also managed to save two fo the cucumber plants.
I noticed that one of the humming birds finally came back, I was bad and didn’t get their feeder back up until last week. I just finished staining the workbench top and decide to come in and finish the Field Day scoring.
Daddy wore Isaac out, the little guy had a 4 hour nap this afternoon….

Testing link between wordpress and twitter again….
I just had to reboot my server – the one that hosts this site and little things like DNS inside my home network. I noticed the video card is no longer “happy”. It is throwing random charactors all over the screen and stuff like that. Seems like the heat always kills a box every summer. Probably should do something about that, but I’ve been meaning to upgrade the box anyhow.
So today was a very productive day. Isaac got us up at a reasonable hour, which is always good. I made pancakes for breakfast and then got started on moving the pile of waste out of the backyard and into the front. A friend came over aroun 10ish and we loaded up the 80 feet of old fence, three or four big limps I cut down and a bunch of random other stuff in his truck. (very cool truck with lift gate and bed that dumps) Off to the dump we went and got rid of it. About 1300 pounds when it was all said and done. I bought him lunch for the help and we came back to the house.
After Scott took off, Isaac, Rosie and I went to the mall for ice cream and picked up sandwiches for dinner. It was still pretty damn hot and we didn’t feel like cooking. We ate dinner on the deck and then Isaac crashed in front of the TV for just long enough for me to finish my workbench. The top is all done now, so now I just need to throw some stain on it and call it good. When I was ton I gave Isaac a bath and then put him to bed.
It has been a long week. Things at work are getting kind of stressful. Our group lost the two most senior devs in a two week period and we got more work dumped on us then we could do before they left. Today we finally called uncle and told our director it just wasn’t going to work. No amount of re-prioritizing was going to get six weeks of work done in two.
On top of all that, I am still trying to update my iTouch to the 2.0 software. I got up early this morning hoping to-do it before I left for work, but I kept getting the Apple is unavailable error. Just about an hour ago I finally got in, only to find out my credit card on file was expired. (Shows you how much I buy via iTunes store now) Anyhow it has been “updating” now for 30 minutes. At the moment it is “restoring iPod music and videos”. I’m trying to figure out how it is taking so long for 16meg of data to be moved over a USB2 connection.
Thank god the weekend is here
At the park with Isaac-just did 3 laps around the baseball field-someone will nap gd
During the process of building the fence, I had to take down my temporary workbench in the garage so I could use the saw horses. (temporary = two saw horses and a old door) I never put the temporary workbench back up, but when looking at the left over 2×4’s I got an idea. A little hunting on the web and I came up with some simple bench plans.
Of course I couldn’t just follow the plans, I had to modify them on the fly without really thinking about it and ended up with a slightly bigger bench then I would have liked. But it is a bench.
I stopped at Home Depot this morning and got some little roller cansters, so I can still move the bench around the garage as needed.
I’ll attach the top tomorrow, I just ran out of steam tonight and it was getting close to dinner time. The weather has been really weird, both hot and cold. Some times it rains and then the sun will come out. I’m hoping tomorrow will be closer to normal.
